Choosing your planners

Most couples marrying in Jersey are planning from off-island — the UK, France and further afield — and that is exactly where a local planner earns their fee: knowing which venues return emails, which suppliers pair well, and how the registrar process fits the timeline. Be clear about the level of help you want before comparing quotes: full planning, supplier sourcing only, or on-the-day coordination.

Ask for a written scope: the person who will actually attend, hours covered on the day, how supplier recommendations are made, and whether the planner takes commission from suppliers — the latter should be disclosed either way.

Destination couples should also ask about stash-and-dash logistics: couriered décor, favours and documents arriving on-island before the wedding party does. A good local planner will also sequence the registrar appointment around your travel dates, which matters for couples arriving only days before the ceremony.
