Most Jersey brides have hair and makeup done at their getting-ready accommodation rather than a salon, so ask artists whether they travel to hotels, cottages and family homes — nearly all do, and on a small island nowhere is more than half an hour away. Book the artist before you book the trial, and schedule the trial a few weeks before the wedding with your veil or hair accessories to hand.

Confirm whether hair and makeup are one person or two artists, how many people can be included — mothers, bridesmaids — and build the timeline backwards from the photographer’s arrival, not the ceremony.

Ask which products suit Jersey’s sea air and changeable humidity, and have a contingency for outdoor ceremonies at coastal venues like Gorey or St Brelade. For destination weddings, some artists offer a combined booking covering an on-island trial in the days before the ceremony alongside the wedding-morning appointment itself.
