A Jersey wedding month by month
Jersey is the warmest part of the British Isles — but it is still an Atlantic island. Here is what each month genuinely delivers, so you can match the date to the wedding you want.
Spring — long light, green lanes
March. Quiet, fresh and the cheapest month on the island. Weather is changeable (9–11°C), but the lanes green early and venues have full availability. Buy everyone a coat, not a marquee.
April. Spring proper: blue skies between showers, gardens waking at the heritage venues, and hotel prices still off-peak. A good month for a manor-house wedding where most of the day is indoors anyway.
May. One of the island’s best-kept secrets: often the sunniest month, everything in bloom, sea air that already feels warm — without July’s crowds or tariffs. Books out earlier than couples expect.
Summer — the classic, at a price
June. The safest summer bet: long golden evenings (sunset near ten), settled weather more often than not, and slightly less visitor pressure than August. Peak pricing applies.
July. Warmest sea, peak light, peak everything — including accommodation costs and competition for guest rooms with holidaymakers. Book guest hotels a year ahead.
August. Busiest month on the island. Weather is at its best and venues are at their fullest; flight fares peak. A wonderful month if booked early, an expensive one if not.
Autumn — the connoisseur’s choice
September. Many island suppliers’ favourite: the sea is at its warmest, the light goes soft and golden, holiday crowds have gone, and venue prices begin to ease. The smart alternative to July.
October. Off-peak pricing starts in earnest. Storms become more likely (plan indoor space), but calm, mild days are still common and the island is beautifully empty.
Winter — intimate and inexpensive
November–February. Short days mean a 3pm ceremony in candlelight — genuinely romantic, and the cheapest dates of the year. Fire-lit hotels and harbour restaurants are the right venues; castles are the wrong ones. Christmas-season St Helier adds sparkle. Ask every venue for their winter rate; you will be surprised how far the budget stretches.
What books out first, whatever the month
In order: castle Saturdays in June–September (a year ahead), guest accommodation within walking distance of coastal venues (as early), then photographers, caterers and hair-and-makeup for peak Saturdays. Off-peak, everything relaxes. Pair this with venues with prices and the budget guide to turn a month into a plan.
